The 2005 US Open and Velocity Games

Austin made a momentous showing at the US Open & Velocity Games this year. We had 6 guys competing in two fleets. The weather was a little light the first two days (which rocked for my small fry here :-) then Corpus kicked in - like only the bay can. We had two awesome days of 9.8 and 8.5 full on rock n roll!

Tim, Ted & Brian has a killer 4 days exposure to mother chop CC-Bay style. The three of them rocked! Just finishing all the races is an extreme deal when the Manorial Day wind comes to mumma. Trey, Guy and your truly had a killer time too. Guy won prize money. I sailed most races without dropping the sail (woo hoo) - hey don't laugh. Have you ever tried to sail a mile up wind - and back! - in chop - its a pretty wild ride...

Mr T & I set an a killer camp this year. We pinched off the corner under the trees and made min-Austin. It rocks being local and driving. Bring everything..

Darren "de-man" Rogers ran a totally awesome event (as always). If it wasn't for real life, I'd have been following him back to the Gorge for the race series there. Can't wait for the Nationals in Hood River July 25th!!!

Alan Bernau managed to weave a beautiful red skirt using an old boom. Rocked in the event too - also picking up real , cold, hard CASH prize money!

Guy Miller managed to stick his back teeth together using super glue.

The boys made windsurf heaven. Shade for your cooler full of Advil and Red Bull, a tree to lean your beach cruzer and a dry spot to rig - all right across from the beach.

Mini Austin is Sail Works country man! Worth the entry fee just to "own" a small part of the board-walk - leave your gear right there WITH OVERNIGHT SECURITY!! Man, i'd pay $150 for this as a camp site!!

There were some scary moments. Leave an unstable half crazed windsurfers with a tube of Desetin (yes that is the stuff you put on a babies arse - 100% sun block :-) - very bad!

Yellow teeth or white head - you choose :-)

But man, those Austin boys were tough! No scary local, cream-puff, ruben's gonna scare these guys!

The swanky boys stayed over at Trey's grandma's house. Tim managed to such in his stomach so far he gave himself a hernia. When he let go, Ted's towel got sucked 8 inches up Tim's trouser leg??

Anyway. We all had a way-cool time. When ever i get back from an event I'm so stoked that I can't decide if i should give up while I'm lovin it, book into every event worldwide or to sell the wife and kids and go compete in them all. Next year, you've gotta come!

Rockin 2 weather
Darran
